Courses offered in the Biology Department are directed toward three objectives. First, they provide the student majoring in a biological science with a broad and sound foundation for advanced study at an upper-level institution or a professional school. The second objective provides the non-science major with information and concepts about himself and the living world around him to help him become a well-rounded citizen. The third objective provides the science background required for Allied Health students to successfully complete their chosen program.
For students interested in pursuing a medical profession, Odessa College is the only college in West Texas to have an articulation agreement with Texas A&M University that guarantees automatic acceptance into the biomedical science program at Texas A&M to OC students who successfully complete two years of specified course work at OC. Students who go through Texas A&M’s biomedical program have a high rate of acceptance into medical, dental, veterinary and pharmacy schools.
