Setting Up Auto-Archive for Outlook 2003

  1. When you archive your email in Outlook you move it from the Exchange server to your PC. It is still searchable and available to you on your PC. It makes searching your email on the Exchange server much faster and keeps the Exchange server from being loaded down with old email.

  2. Go to Outlook 2003 and click on Tools, then click on Options, them click on the "Other" tab, and then click on the AutoArchive button. That will open up the AutoArchive dialog window.

  3. Set the settings in AutoArchive to the ones in the image above. This will store two years worth of email on the Exchange server and any older email on your PC.

  4. Use the default pathway in the "Move old items to" setting.

  5. Once you have the settings entered click on the "Apply these setting to all folders now" button.

  6. Then click OK and you are done.

  7. The 4 month setting has now been applied to all of your email folders and AutoArchive will run every day.
