Distance Learning - Library Delivery Service
Who is eligible for Library Delivery Service?
Students must be currently enrolled at Odessa College. Items may be mailed to the student's home or to his/her nearest OC Extension Center. (For those who have disabilities, please contact email@example.com.)
What materials are available for delivery?
Students may request books, photocopies of chapters from books, or journal articles (30 page limit). No more than one chapter from a book or one article from a journal issue can be sent due to copyright restrictions. The Murry H. Fly LRC must own the book in order to send it. Please see the section on Interlibrary Loan. Non-book materials (i.e. media) cannot be requested. Distance students using the delivery service may have two books checked out at a time.
How are the items sent?
LRC books will be sent by US Postal Service, normally within two business days of when the order is received. Chapters from books or journal articles will be sent by FAX, mailed, or emailed (PDF file).
How long may I keep the items?
The checkout period for books for distance students is 28 days with one renewal (providing there is not a hold on the item). No books will be mailed within 28 days of the end of any semester; however, photocopies of chapters or articles can be sent until Finals Week. Photocopies do not need to be returned.
How do I renew?
Books may be renewed online as long as they are not overdue. If the items are overdue, the student must call or email the Circulation Department at 432-335-6640 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I request items to be mailed to me?
Students should fill out the Distance Learning Request Form at this URL:
Submit one form for each article or book.
What is the cost for the delivery service?
Domestic and APO/FPO addresses: $2.00, plus $0.50 for each additional item mailed in same package.
International addresses: $4.00, plus $1.00 for each additional item mailed in same package.
The cost to FAX materials to US phone numbers is $0.25 per page. An international FAX will be $0.50 per page.
Scanning and sending articles electronically:
$0.25 per page (limit of 30 pages).
These prices are subject to change, but any changes will be announced on this web page.
Make out a check or money order in US dollars to Odessa College and send separately or enclose with any books when you return them. For information on paying by credit card, please contact the Circulation Desk at 432-335-6640 or email Donna Clark at email@example.com. Lost/damaged books or unpaid fees will cause a block to be placed on the students record. All outstanding books or fees for the library must be resolved before transcripts are released.
How do I return the books?
The return postage is the responsibility of the student. Please wrap the books securely and return to:

You are responsible for books charged out to you until they are checked in again at the library. Please insure the books in order to help track any lost materials. The library recommends that residents of the USA return items via UPS because the company provides automatic tracking and $100 insurance per package.
What if the Murry H. Fly LRC does not own the item I need?
Residents in Texas may use the TexShare card program to check out materials from any participating academic or public library in Texas. Students in good standing with the Murry H. Fly LRC may request a TexShare card to be mailed to them. Please call the Circulation Desk at 432-335-6640 or email the Director of Public Services, Donna Clark, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Many other states offer reciprocal borrowing programs similar to TexShare. Students outside of Texas should contact their local public libraries for information.
Books are not available through our Interlibrary Loan service for mail delivery to distance students (Murry H. Fly LRC must own the book in order to send it). Please contact the Interlibrary Loan office at your local public library.
Journal articles can be obtained through our own Interlibrary Loan service and forwarded to the distance student; however, this is a time-consuming process. For faster service, we recommend that you initiate ILL through your local public library. With the wide range of full-text databases and electronic books offered by the LRC, community college students can normally locate the information they need without using ILL service.
