Discipline Process for On-Campus Students & Organizations
The Director of Student Life has primary responsibility for conduct and discipline involving students and student organizations. Severe actions of misconduct may also involve the Odessa College Police Department. Note: Criminal and Administrative investigations run parallel and the result of one investigation will not necessarily affect the result of the other.
Incident Reports are usually submitted to the Director of Student Life through the Housing staff, instructors or the Odessa College Police Department. Organization misconduct or student misconduct during campus events or intramural sports competition may be reported by Student Activities. Students involved in misconduct or violation of College policy will be summoned to meet with the Director of Student Life regarding their involvement in or knowledge of policy infractions. If it is determined that the student is responsible for the policy infraction, the following sanctions may apply:
- Work Assignment
- Educational report or essay
- Loss of privileges
- AlcoholEdu® for Sanctions
- Administrative Probation
- Removal from Student Housing
- Revocation of Active Organization Status
Students have the right to appeal decisions made by the Director to an Appeals Committee comprised of faculty, staff, and students. Appeals must be submitted in writing within 5 class days. A student or organization will remain in good standing with Student Life until the appeal has been heard. Please consult the Student Handbook.
