Canstruction OC

Odessa College Canstruction

A fun twist to donating canned food

Background: Canstruction is based on a national program founded in 1992. Canstruction is a 201 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that donates to local food banks by engaging engineers and architects to build structures made of canned food.  The program has helped raise over 40 million pounds of food nationally.

Goal: Canstruction is a new initiative at OC coordinated by Campus Activities Board and Student Activities. Our purpose is to engage OC students, faculty, and staff, by working together in collecting canned food and building a structure with the canned food collected.  The canned food used to build these structures will be used for on campus food donations for OC students before winter break and off campus food bank donations.

Theme: “An OC Holiday!” Create a canned food structure that captures the spirit and pride of Odessa College with a festive, fun holiday twist.

The Winners:

1st place - Student Government Association (SGA) and OC Campus Activities Board (CAB)

2nd place - Team SWAG (Something We Athletes Got)
