Odessa College proudly announced that nine of the 16 total artists selected to exhibit at the Community Art Gallery, which opened in City Hall in September of this year, have Odessa College connections. OC photography students/graduates whose work is exhibited in the gallery include Dave Thompson, Jacklynn Bracamontes, Abel Hernandez and Charley Atchley. OC faculty members whose work is included are James Mosman, Kirk Williams, Beckwith Thompson, Barry Phillips and Steve Goff.
The City of Odessa and Odessa Arts collaborated to select artwork by local artists for the launch of the Community Art Gallery, located on the fifth floor of Odessa’s City Hall. The selected works are on display in council chambers and various other locations on the fifth floor from September 25, 2018 through July 31, 2019. At the conclusion of the exhibit, the City of Odessa may exercise it's privilege to purchase one of the pieces to grow it's permanent collection.
This project not only beautifies one of the city’s municipal buildings, but also brings attention to the robust artist community in Odessa.
