Odessa College President, Gregory D. Williams, released the following statement in response to Hurricane Harvey, and calls on the Odessa College family to come together in support of our friends, family and colleagues along the Texas Coast, in Houston and in southeast Texas who have been impacted by the devastating storm:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and communities experiencing loss and devastation from the effects of Hurricane Harvey. I encourage the Odessa College family to come together and support Texas during this difficult time.”
The Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management is coordinating collection of relief items for the residents affected by the storm, and we are working with our fellow West Texas community colleges on a plan to get monetary assistance to our southern neighbors. Campus drop off locations and donation instructions will be released soon. In the meantime, the West Texas Food Bank recommends donating the following:
- Canned foods
- Soups
- Vegetables
- Meats – chicken, spam
- Fish – salmon, tuna
- Peanut butter
- Jelly
- Fruit or fruit cups
- Dry Foods
- Cereal
- Pop Tarts
- Powdered milk
- Cleaning Supplies
- Bleach
- Paper towels
- Disinfecting wipes
- Soap
- Personal Supplies
- Face cleansing wipes
- Baby wipes
- Diapers
- Baby Food and Formula
- No glass bottles or jars
