"Be kind, be wise, don't drink and drive, don't text and drive. Pay attention to what you're doing and just think about the consequences...You're not only affecting your life...You're also affecting the lives of several others." - Tera Crossland, Nathaniel's Mother
On, October 1, 2017, Terra Crossland's world changed forever. Her sixteen-year-old son Nathaniel Silvas was driving home when a drunk driver crossed the median on Highway 385 and ran head-on into his truck.
Since losing her son, Tera Crossland honors her son's memory through fundraising efforts and helping others through scholarships. This endowment represents Nathaniel's interest in pursuing a degree in Engineering. Keeping this in mind Crossland presented Odessa College with a $25,000 check.
The Nathaniel Silvas Memorial Scholarship will be available to qualifying students in the Bachelor of Applied and Science Automation and Occupational Safety and Management degree programs.
