Last week a total of 48 students in the Odessa College Licensed Vocational Nursing program took the Texas State Nursing Board Licensure Exam (NCLEX-PN), and all 48 passed the exam on their first attempt!
The 48 students who took the exam last week had completed the Odessa College LVN Nursing Program in August of 2017. Of that number, 23 of the students were from Andrews, 20 students were from Monahans, and 5 of the students were actually still in high school, taking LVN courses as Odessa College Dual Credit students.
Upon receiving the news of the 100% pass rate, Odessa College’s Director of LVN Programs Nicole Hayes stated, “I could not be more proud of all of the full-time and part-time faculty that made this happen. Their commitment to the students and to Odessa College is unwavering. I am so honored to get to work with this group of nursing educators at Odessa College. In the last 3 years, the LVN program has had 139 students take the NCLEX-PN and 138 of them have passed on their first attempt.”
All 48 students are now licensed vocational nurses, and are ready to work in many different health care areas. A number of these nurses have also indicated that they plan to continue their educations in nursing, pursuing either a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or any one of several other related degrees.
