The 2017 NJCAA Div. 1 National Champion Odessa College Wrangler Golf Team came home late Saturday afternoon, May 20. When they arrived at the OC Century Commons student housing facility, the red carpet literally was rolled out for them. After a celebratory welcome home, the new national champions were off to a reception and dinner in their honor at the Odessa Country Club. Family, friends, OC administrators and staff were on hand to greet the team and celebrate their victory.
The Wranglers stayed strong against cool temperatures, wind, rain, and tornado warnings during their four days of tournament play in Garden City, Kansas. In the end, they overcame all obstacles and claimed the National Championship Trophy for Odessa College. OC Wrangler Golf Coach Paul Chavez also was named the 2017 NJCAA Div.1 Men’s Golf Coach of the Year.
