ODESSA, TX---January 30, 2018---Odessa Regional Medical Center (ORMC) presented a $15,000 donation to the Odessa College health careers program on Tuesday afternoon.
Odessa College will apply the donation to two areas of their health careers program. The first area will be capital expenses for additional equipment in their Health Sciences Building to provide simulated real-life experiences that span the health professions. The second area will be scholarships for students pursuing their education in health care careers.
“At ORMC, we are committed to providing and improving health care in our community,” said Stacey Gerig Brown, President of Odessa Regional Medical Center. “This donation is important because it integrates the foundation of growing exemplary health care workers in our community with our ability to continue to provide quality patient care, both now and in the future.”
“This donation is possible with the support of our medical staff and their dedication to health care education in Odessa,” Brown added.
“In the health care system, there are integrated teams of the various health care professions working together to support the patients’ recovery and their return to, or sustained, quality of life,” said Odessa College Associate Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Marie Vasques-Brooks.
“Our goal at Odessa College is to provide the very best innovative, industry-aligned and inter-disciplinary experiences for our students throughout their health care professional training and to enable them to develop their understanding of how the health professions interrelate for the benefit of the patient.”
