ExxonMobil BAAS - Occupational Health and Safety Management
The Occupational Health and Safety degree at Odessa College focuses on providing students with a strong foundation in risk management, job hazard analysis, personnel training, and safety plan development. Completing this program allows students to apply for entry-level positions as health and safety technicians and consultants. OSET students work with highly experienced health, safety, and emergency management faculty and can access the latest tools and technology.
Students who enter the ExxonMobil BAAS Leadership and Management Occupational Health and Safety Management program will develop the skills to manage safer workplaces, ensure occupational health of employees, conduct management system audits, and provide guidance to operations on industrial hazards. Students will learn to create and apply safety and health management standards through the application of critical thinking, experiential innovation-based projects, leadership/communication, and problem-solving skills. Completion of this program will allow students to advance into leadership roles within their chosen career field.
The Institute of Hazardous Materials Management also approves undergraduate occupational safety and health degrees taught by skilled faculty fully certified in industrial hygiene and safety.

General Requirements
Applicants for entry into the Bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences (BAAS) in Leadership and Management degree must satisfy the following minimum criteria:
- General Admission to Odessa College.
- Compliance with Texas Success Initiative requirements (TSI).
- Completed an approved AAS degree from an accredited institution, or be within 15 SCH of completion.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.
ExxonMobil BAAS - Leadership and Management
Students interested in completing the ExxonMobil BAAS in Leadership and Management must meet the general admission criteria above for admission to the program. Students who have been admitted to the program and are within 15 credit hours of completing their AAS degree, and currently enrolled in those courses may, with the approval of the Dean and Deparment Chair, enroll in no more than two (2) upper-division courses. Students are expected to maintain Odessa College Academic Progress requirements as outlined in the EGA (Local), Student Handbook, and available online. The college seeks to preserve the spirit of the community college Open Door policy for new ExxonMobil BAAS in Leadership and Management students while ensuring they have the prerequisite skills for success. Admission to the program will be capped by capacity and therefore students will be accepted in order of application and registration.
ExxonMobil BAAS - Leadership and Management – Occupational Health and Safety Management Track
In addition to the above requirements, students interested in completing the ExxonMobil BAAS in Leadership and Management with a concentration in Occupational Health and Safety Management will be required to have completed their AAS in Occupational Safety and Environmental Technology or related field. Approval of "related field" degrees will be the responsibility of the Department Chair for the program. This review and approval process mirrors multiple collaborative review processes at the institution, including review of transfer credits, between Student Services and Instruction and does not require new documentation.
