Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) strives to protect our state's public health and natural resources consistent with sustainable economic development. Odessa College offers TCEQ certification exams through Computer Based Testing.


Pre-approval of your licensing application is required. For pre-approval, applicants must:

  • complete license requirements-
    • education
    • experience
    • training
  • Pay the $111 processing fee (required before you can submit you application on e-Application).
    • TCEQ Occupational Licensing, MC-178, PO Box 13087, Austin, TX 78711-3087
  • submit an application using the online application, e-Application

Approval Letter

Upon receiving an approval letter, the applicant will need to:

  •  Visit the OC Testing Center Marketplace to pay the $35.00 proctor fee. Please note, you will need to have obtained your approval letter prior to visiting Marketplace. 
  •  Once your Marketplace order has been received by the Testing Center you will be contacted by a representative to set your appointment time/date for your exam. 
  •  A valid/current picture ID is required for all exams 


Retesting by CBT after failing a written test is allowed, so long as your application is in an approved status.

  • Landscape Irrigation
    • Landscape Irrigation Inspector
    • Landscape Irrigation Technician (English Only)
  • On-site Sewage Facility (OSSF)
    • OSSF Maintenance Provider
  • Wastewater Treatment and Collection System Operators
    • Class I Wastewater Collection System Operator
    • Class B Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator
    • Class C Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator
    • Class D Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator
  • Water Treatment and Distribution System Operators
    • Class B Groundwater Operator
    • Class B Surface Water Operator
    • Class B Water Distribution
    • Class C Groundwater Operator
    • Class C Surface Water Operator
    • Class C Water Distribution
    • Class D Water
  • Water Treatment Specialists
    • Class III
    • Class II
    • Class I

Each of the exams above have a 3 hr time limit.

  • Municipal Solid Waste Operator Class A – 4 hr time limit
  • Municipal Solid Waste Operator Class B – 2 hr time limit

Testing Center Tips:

  1. TCEQ exams are administered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week.
  2. The Testing Center is located in the SPUR Building, Suite 150.
  3. All test candidates should be prepared to present a current photo ID for verification purposes duing the check-in process.
  4. You will be provided a locker to store your personal items when completing your exam.
  5. We welcome you to park in any WHITE or YELLOW parking space located in the lot to the left of the Administration Building.

Please be advised, if you make an appointment to test and do not show up for your scheduled appointment time, or fail to call at least 2 hours prior to your appointment time to reschedule your exam, you will forfeit your $35.00 proctor fee. A seperate proctor fee of $35.00 will be required before your exam will be rescheduled.
